Summer Newsletter 2010

While everyone enjoys the warm summer months away from the arena, the WCMHA volunteers are hard at work with registration, equipment, ice contracts/scheduling and everything else we need for a great upcoming season! Registration closed at the end of June, we thank everyone for registering on time for our planning activities. Please help spread the word in our community to all your neighbors with young children to check our website for registration details on the Initiation program.

With regards to ice contract negotiations, families can still expect to practice at 6 AM and 4 PM; these hours are provided at discounted rates to WCMHA from CSMI as part of the overall contract. We are contractually obligated to use them and we thank you for your support this coming winter.

We say goodbye to long-time Registrar Kathy Vizena, Kathy was an incredible asset to WCMHA for many years. We thank her for the 4 years of service to our Board that she contributed to making hockey a better place in the community of West Carleton.

WCMHA will host the following clinics this upcoming season:
Coach Stream Clinic – Oct. 1^st/2^nd, 2010

Speak Out - Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Intro Coach - Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Level 1 Trainers - Saturday, November 20th, 2010

Email clinic@wcmha.ca to register, clinics are free to WCMHA participants that volunteer for the 2010-2011 season.

Speak Out is necessary for all team officials including team managers and trainers. Intro Coach is the clinic required for all volunteers that participate in the Initiation Program. Trainer Certification expires every 3 years in August, be sure to get renewed! All clinics fill every season, be sure to register early. Any clinic not offered by the WCMHA will be offered by neighbouring Associations, check the ODHA website for dates/times. Any clinic fee will be reimbursed by WCMHA if the participant is a volunteer for the 2010-2011 season.

WCMHA Awarded $5K from Worl Junior Fund Grant!
There were 14 recipients and WCMHA has received $5K towards goalie equipment!


Goalie Equipment
Through fundraising and grants (WCMHA was the proud recipient of $5000 from the World Junior Fund), we were able to purchase new goalie equipment. If you require an equipment rental, please contact our Equipment Manager Sheena Dolan sheena@wcmha.ca to make arrangements two weeks prior to tryouts.

Tryout Schedules
Tryout schedules are available on our website mid-August, they should be checked regularly in case there are updates or changes.

Optional Conditioning Session
WCMHA will host our optional conditioning session on Saturday, August 28th, 2010.

ODHA Let'em Play
WCMHA will be hosting the Online Parental Program - Let'em Play for all IP and Novice parents. For all parents that view complete the online course, their name will be entered in a draw for upcoming Ottawa Senators tickets!

• WCMHA will issue a tryout/sortout jersey at conditioning on August 28th or jerseys can be obtained and will be assigned at the first tryout/sortout.
• Players should bring their own marked water bottles.
• All participants must be in full equipment including mouth guards.
